La Grande jonquerolle

La Grande Jonquerolle (dating from 1850) is a beautifully renovated Provençal Mas (170 m²) located among the vineyards, about 3 km from the charming village of Fox-Amphoux. This spacious and very comfortable holiday home offers 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and is suitable for up to 6 guests. The lovely swimming pool and stunning views make it a peaceful and delightful retreat to enjoy everything the Provence has to offer.

Arrangement

Inside the spacious Mas, you’ll find a large living room with a dining table, a fully equipped kitchen with another dining area, and three comfortable bedrooms (each with a television). Two bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, and there is also a separate large third bathroom.

Two of the bedrooms have double beds, and one bedroom is furnished with two single beds.

In the garden, there is a large swimming pool measuring 13 x 5 meters, with a depth that gently slopes from 1.20 to 2.00 meters. The pool is also used by the owners. It has a retractable cover that helps keep the water pleasantly warm. The pool is generally open from May 15 to the end of September.

Thanks to the thick stone walls, air conditioning is not needed. Even in the height of summer, the house remains comfortably cool.

The owner lives in a separate section next to the Mas, but you will have plenty of privacy. The owner's terrace is located on the opposite side of the property.

In the garden, you’ll also find a boules court and a trampoline.

Amenities include: WIFI, gas plancha, dishwasher, washing machine, and microwave.

Surrounding

Fox-Amphoux is located in the heart of the Var region in Provence. The mild Mediterranean climate and the azure-blue waters make life here especially pleasant. The Var is full of ancient Provençal villages with narrow streets, old churches, fountains, and picturesque squares. Around Régusse, you’ll find villages such as:

  • Aups, with its lively market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and great restaurants,

  • Cotignac, known as the Saint-Tropez of the Haut-Var,

  • Tourtour, the village in the sky,

  • Sillans-la-Cascade, with its famous waterfall,

  • Villecroze, with its tropical park and caves,

  • Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, famous for its ceramics,

  • The Valensole Plateau, covered with lavender fields (early July),

  • Le Thoronet, with its medieval abbey,

  • Vérignon, with its protected oak forest,

  • Les Salles-sur-Verdon, one of the youngest villages in France,

  • and Quinson, home to the largest prehistoric museum in Europe.

There are also many charming local markets in the area, including those in Aups, Villecroze, Salernes, and Cotignac.

The wine estates of Entrecasteaux and Villecroze are well worth a visit, and the renowned Château de Berne in Lorgues is highly recommended.

Mediterranean coastal towns such as Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Saint-Raphaël, and Fréjus are located about 65 km from Régusse. Adventurers can dive from the cliffs at the Calanques of Cassis. For those who prefer fresh water, the beaches along the Lac de Sainte-Croix offer a range of water sports including windsurfing, sailing, catamaran sailing, canoeing, and pedal boating.

For hikers and climbers, there are stunning walking and climbing routes in and around the Gorges du Verdon.

Golfers will also find many excellent opportunities, with several beautiful golf courses in the area. Within a 30-minute drive, you can go climbing, swimming, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, enjoy water sports or mountain activities.

The region is rich with olive trees, vineyards, and fragrant lavender fields (blooming in early July).

The Lac de Sainte-Croix and the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon are about 30 minutes away by car.

The Verdon River is a tributary of the Durance in southern France, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, forming the border between the Var and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence departments. It originates at the Col d’Allos, in the Trois-Évêchés massif, and flows into the Durance at Vinon-sur-Verdon. Between Castellane and the Pont du Galetas, the river cuts through a spectacular gorge: the Gorges du Verdon.

The Gorges du Verdon is the largest canyon in Europe, and the second largest in the world, often referred to as the Grand Canyon du Verdon, after the Grand Canyon in the United States. This natural park is a beloved destination for nature lovers and a renowned location for rock climbers who challenge themselves on the steep cliffs.

The Lac de Sainte-Croix is the second-largest artificial lake in France, located on the border between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Var departments. It can even be seen from the air when the weather is clear. The lake was created in 1973, and the village of Les Salles-sur-Verdon once stood where the lake now lies. Some traces remain, such as old roads disappearing into the water. The original village was almost completely demolished and rebuilt 400 meters away.

Near Les Salles-sur-Verdon lies a small island within swimming distance. In spring and autumn, when the water level is low, it is possible to walk to it. The lake is well developed for tourism, especially near the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon, where catamarans, canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and electric boats are available for rent to explore the gorge. Gas-powered engines are prohibited to protect the water quality and reduce noise and air pollution.
